Explosion-proof electrical connectors (VES) are devices for quick connection and disconnection of cable network sections, the operation of which does not ignite the surrounding explosive atmosphere due to appearance of a spark or a critical increase in surface temperature. Application:

  • land-based stationary and mobile installations at enterprises of the chemical, oil and gas and other industries, regardless of climate (SV-VELAN, UV, VV and VR, SVR);

  • sea transport, offshore drilling platforms (SV-VELAN);

  • coal mines and pits (SVR).

Design

SVR

The plug consists of a metal body, in which a plug insulator is located with integrated pins for the following circuits: main, control and grounding circuits.

The socket also consists of a metal body, in which a socket insulator is located with integrated sockets for the above-mentioned circuits.

Cable is packed with a rubber seal ring and cable sleeve. A special brace protects the cable from pulling out and turning. The plug and socket are connected using a special nut, which is installed on the body and screwed with a special wrench. For correct joining of plug and socket, guides and indicators are used.

SV-VELAN

The plugs consist of: body components with a contact block inside, a locking mechanism and two stopper plugs. Sockets consist of: body components with a contact block inside, internal rotary switch, a cover with seal and holding screws, three stopper plugs.

VV and VR

Plugs and sockets consist of the following basic components:

  • covers with seal (and locking mechanism for sockets);
  • body with contacts (and locking mechanism for plugs);
  • shank;
  • circuit.
Stationary (panel) plugs and sockets do not have a shank.

Slots have a locking device preventing spontaneous disconnection.

UV

Extension cords shall consist of the following basic components:

  • frames;
  • a drum with integrated panel sockets;
  • junction box;
  • cable with a mating part (with a plug attached at the end).

VES are optionally equipped with circuit breakers, switches, light indicators (VV and VR).

Advantages

Structure of connectors ensures electrical interlocking. Electrical interlocking ensures the following:

  • supply voltage to contacts only after full connection of socket with plug;
  • disconnection of contacts only after de-energization of these contacts.

Connectors have a great number of design versions and a wide range of nominal currents.
Designed for operation in a wide range of ambient temperatures (from −60 to +50 °C (up to +55 °C for SV-VELAN)).
