Explosion-proof cable glands are devices intended for glanding and fixing flexible armored and unarmored cables with rubber and plastic insulation with a round section when laying into stationary, mobile or portable electrical equipment.
Specifications
Material is a nickel-plated brass, steel with corrosion-resistant coating, stainless steel, zinc or aluminum alloy, armamid. Climatic versions and arrangement categories are all-climatic (V1.5) and tropical (T1.5). Cables are adapted for operation under humidity up to (98 ± 2) %. Ø of packed cables is 3…112 mm (VK-VEL), 7…64 mm (VK), 4…45 mm (VK-P-VEL).
Design
Cable glands VK-VEL for unarmored cable consist of a fitting, an O-ring, and a cap nut.
In addition to the aforementioned, the cable glands VK-VEL for armored cable have rings and bushings with a taper surface, between which cable armor is fixed.
Cable glands VK-P-VEL consist of a body, a nut, a collet holder and an O-ring.
Cable glands VK consist of a body (a slot), an O-ring, a pressure washer, a pressure coupling or fitting with a cable fixing device or without it, gaskets for sealing the points of gland and enclosure connection.
Advantages
Explosion-proof cable glands:
- are suitable for fixing both armored and unarmored cables;
- prevent ingress of dust and moisture, including under effect of a strong water jet (ingress protection level IP66 according to GOST 14254-2015);
- special versions of VK-VEL ensure ingress protection level IP67 (temporary short-term immersion) or IP68 (long-term immersion);
- withstand low temperatures down to -60 ˚C; upper limit – 50 ˚C (VK), 55 ˚C (VK-VEL, VK-P-VEL) or 110 ˚C (VK-VEL custom version).
